Audio Capture Device Is Not Available (266723)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start a capture, the following error message may appear:
Cannot open specified audio capture device because it is in use right now. (0XC00D1B61)

CAUSE

This error can occur when the specified capture device is also used as the Windows default sound playback device. When events that trigger a sound occur, such as a new mail or error notification, the device is temporarily in use. If the Encoder is started before the device is released, this error occurs.

RESOLUTION

If the computer that the Encoder is running on has multiple sound cards, you can avoid the problem by using a different capture card as the default playback device.

If the computer doesn't have multiple sound cards, you can avoid this problem by waiting briefly before you start the encoder after an event has occurred.
