SYMPTOMS

If Microsoft DirectX Media 6.0 is not installed properly on the computer, you may receive the following error message when you try to run Windows Media Encoder version 7:
No specified device driver is present. (0xC00D0072)

CAUSE

This error occurs because DirectX Media 6.0 is not installed on the computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, download and install the most recent version of DirectX Media from the Microsoft Download Center:
