SYMPTOMS

After your connection has been idle for 20 minutes, your Connection Manager profile may disconnect. This may occur even though you previously set the AutoDisconnect feature in the profile to a value that is either longer or shorter than 20 minutes.

CAUSE

This problem can occur because by default the EnableAutoDisconnect feature of Connection Manager is disabled in the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\RemoteAccess\profile name

Value:EnableAutoDisconnect Reg_Dword
Default Value: 0

IMPORTANT: The hotfix that is listed in this article changes the default value of EnableAutoDisconnect to a value of one (enabled).

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
