Error Message Occurs When Windows Movie Maker Project Is Opened (265565)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Microsoft Windows Movie Maker project file (.mswmm) that was created on another computer, you may receive the following error message:
The file foldername\filename cannot be found. Would you like to browse for it?

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you create a project file that contains a .jpg or .wav file that does not contain the original source path information.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, browse for the original file and include it in the project file. For information about how to search for files or folders, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Help, and then click the Index tab.
  2. Type searching.
  3. Double-click the Searching for files or folders topic.
