Setting the Password-Expired Attribute with Cdir_nt.exe (265408)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the NT management agent in Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS) 2.1, you cannot set the Password-Disabled attribute in the connected Windows NT directory, even though the attribute appears in the export file.

CAUSE

MMS 2.1 contains a version of Cdir_nt.exe that does not flow the Password-Expired attribute to the connected Windows NT directory.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next version of Microsoft Metadirectory Services that contains this hotfix.
