Works 6: Worksheet Cell Protection Is Turned Off (265121)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works 6
- Microsoft Works Suite 2001
This article was previously published under Q265121 SYMPTOMS
When you open a worksheet that was created in an earlier version of Works
Spreadsheet, protected cells in the worksheet are no longer protected.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Works 6 and Works Suite 2001 no longer support cell protection in Works Spreadsheet.
RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, protect the entire worksheet. To do this, follow these steps:
NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps. - On the File menu in Works Spreadsheet, click Save.
- In the Save As dialog box, type a file name in the File name box, and then click Save.
- Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
- Locate your Works Spreadsheet file.
- Right-click the file, and then click Properties.
- In the Properties dialog box, click the General tab.
- Under Attributes, click to select Read-only, and then click OK.
The entire worksheet is now protected. You cannot make changes to the worksheet unless you click to clear the Read-only check box.
