Windows NT 4.0 Clients Cannot See Connect Link on Windows 2000 Internet Print Server (263593)

SYMPTOMS

When you view printer properties from a Web page on a Windows 2000-based print server, the Connect link may not be displayed under Printer Actions in the left frame. This behavior occurs even though clients running Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows 95, or Microsoft Windows 98 can see the link.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because there is no Internet printing client for Windows NT 4.0. The Windows 95/98 Internet printing client is distributed on the Windows 2000 Server CD-ROM in the Clients\Win9xipp.cli folder, or you can download the client from the Windows Update site.

STATUS

Because this functionality is available in Windows 2000, no Windows NT 4.0 client is planned.
