Windows Me Wizards and Programs May Not Show Hidden Folders (261921)

SYMPTOMS

When you are using any of the following Windows Millennium Edition (Me) wizards and you click Have Disk and then click Browse to browse folders, hidden folders may not be displayed:
  • Add New Hardware Wizard
  • Scanners and Cameras Wizard
  • Printers Wizard
  • Gaming Options
  • Add Fonts
NOTE: This problem may still occur even if you have previously configured your folder options to show hidden folders. Also, this problem may occur when you try to browse folders while you are using a program.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the folder you are trying to view has the hidden attribute.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, remove the hidden attribute from the folder you are trying to view. To do so, right click the folder, click Properties, click to clear the Hidden check box, and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
