Midtown Madness: CD Music Is Not Played in the Game (261499)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start CD music in Microsoft Midtown Madness, you may experience one of the following symptoms:
  • CD music is not played in the game.
  • CD music is played, but after a brief moment it stops.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if either of the following condtions is true:
  • CD music in the game is not properly configured.
  • Another program is already using the CD Audio device.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the following methods in the order in which they are presented.

CD Music Is Not Played in the Game

To resolve this issue:
  1. On the Midtown Madness startup screen, click Options.
  2. Click Audio Options.
  3. Click to select the Play Music check box.
  4. Move the CD Volume slider to adjust the CD volume level.
  5. Click Done, and then click Back (<<).

CD Audio Tracks Are Cut Off Abruptly

To resolve this issue, make sure that no other programs that use the CD Audio device are running on your computer:
  1. If you are driving in a race, exit the race, and then minimize Midtown Madness.
  2. Quit any CD player or media player program that is running on your computer.
  3. If the FlexiCD PowerToy is installed on your computer, right-click the FlexiCD icon (a compact disc) on the Windows taskbar, and then click Exit FlexiCD.
  4. Click the Midtown Madness button on the taskbar to restore the game.
