Duplicate Favorites May Appear After You Upgrade to Internet Explorer 5.5 (260609)

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade your Internet Explorer installation to Internet Explorer version 5.5, there may be duplicate hyperlinks on the Favorites menu. Note that to view the duplicate hyperlinks, you may have to open one or more folders such as the Links folder.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, delete the duplicate hyperlinks:
  1. In the Internet Explorer 5.5, click Organize Favorites on the Favorites menu.
  2. Click a duplicate hyperlink, and then press DELETE. Repeat this process until you have deleted all of the duplicate hyperlinks, and then click Close.

Description of the Organize Favorites Tool

As your list of favorites increases, you can organize your favorites by creating folders that organize your favorites by topic. For example, you could create a folder named "Art" for storing art-related favorites. To organize your favorites:
  1. In Internet Explorer 5.5, click Organize Favorites on the Favorites menu.
  2. Click Create Folder, type a name for the folder, and then press ENTER.
  3. Drag the hyperlinks (possibly including shortcuts or folders that contain hyperlinks) to the appropriate folder. Note that you can also click the Move to Folder button to move hyperlinks to a folder.
