SYMPTOMS

When you print a map from one of the programs listed in the "Applies to" section to a printer that you configured to print in portrait orientation, the printed map may not fill the whole page.

In Microsoft MapPoint and Microsoft Streets and , only the area of the map that is visible on the screen is printed to preserve the proportions of the map that is visible on the screen. As a result, the printed map may not fill the whole page.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

When you print the current map view, print a full-page map:
  1. On the File menu, click Print.
  2. Click Current map view and click Extend view to fit page.
The printed area of a full-page map extends the current map view to include as much of the map as fits on the page.

Method 2

Resize the program window so that the map is displayed two times as tall as it is wide, and then print the map in Portrait view.

When you print a map, MapPoint and Streets and Trips use the same height and width ratio that appears on the screen.

Earlier versions of both MapPoint and Streets and Trips printed areas of the map that extended beyond the edges of the screen to make sure that the printed map filled the whole page.

MapPoint and Streets & Trips are designed to print by default a landscape. If a Portrait map is needed, use Method 1.

Method 3

  1. Open the map that you want to print.
  2. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click to clear the checkmarks from all the toolbars.
  3. On the File menu, click Page Setup, and then change the margins to the smallest possible size for your printer.
  4. Print your map.
