StarLancer: Video Adapter Is Not Detected on a Microsoft Windows 2000-Based Computer (260146)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft StarLancer on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, StarLancer may not detect your video adapter. As a result, 3D Render Mode is configured to use the Software Renderer when you play the game.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the following conditions are true:

  • You installed StarLancer on the Windows 2000-based computer before you installed the Windows 2000 Compatibility Update.

  • The video adapter installed in your computer is based on the nVIDIA chip set.

  • The video driver for your video adapter is outdated.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the following methods in the order in which they are presented.

  • Uninstall StarLancer.

  • Download and install the Windows 2000 Compatibility Update.

  • Obtain and install the latest version of the video driver for your video adapter.

  • Reinstall StarLancer.
