FIX: Visual Studio Service Pack 3 Does Not Update Hhcrtl.ocx and Itss.dll (260030)

SYMPTOMS

The Visual Studio MSDN Library Help system files Hhctrl.ocx and Itss.dll are not updated when you install Visual Studio Service Pack 3. The default locations of these files are:
  • Hhctrl.ocx is in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VSS\Netsetup.x86\OS\System\Resource\language id folder
  • Itss.dll file is in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VSS\Netsetup.x86\OS\System\ folder

RESOLUTION

Install the latest service pack for Visual Studio 6.0.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This bug was corrected in the latest service pack for Visual Studio 6.0.
