SYMPTOMS

When you try to install a printer by using the Add Printer Wizard, you may receive the following error message after you select a printer and then click Next:
The Add Printer Wizard was unable to find any installed ports for your printer

CAUSE

This error message can occur if the Spool32.exe file is missing or damaged.

RESOLUTION

Extract a new copy of the Spool32.exe file from your original Windows 95/Windows 98 disks or CD-ROM to the Windows\System folder. For additional information about extracting files, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
