This article describes how to preserve your saved games when you uninstall and then reinstall Microsoft StarLancer.

To preserve your saved games when you uninstall StarLancer:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click Microsoft Starlancer, and then click Add/Remove.
  4. Click Uninstall, and then click OK.

    NOTE: Do not click to select the Remove saved games? check box.
  5. Click OK.
To load a saved game after you reinstall StarLancer:
  1. Start StarLancer.
  2. On the End User License Agreement screen, click Accept.
  3. When you are prompted to let StarLancer detect your hardware, click OK.
  4. On the StarLancer startup screen, click Single Player.
  5. In the Call Sign (Alpha 2) box, type the call sign for the saved game that you want to load, and then click Load Game.
  6. In the list of saved games, click the game that you want to load, and then click Load Game.
To find the call signs for your saved games, look at the names of the saved game files in the following folder on your hard disk

drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Starlancer\Saves

where drive is the drive letter of the hard disk on which you installed StarLancer.

Saved game files are named in the following format

callsignGAME###.iff

where callsign is the call sign for the saved game, and ### is a three-digit number.
