This article was previously published under Q259931 SYMPTOMS When you try to print envelopes from any one of the
products that are listed in the "Applies To" section, the correct envelope printing
options may not be available (grayed out).CAUSE This behavior may occur if the following conditions
exist:
- You use a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 5L PCL or a Canon S600
printer driver.
- You installed the printer driver from the Microsoft Windows
98 CD-ROM by using the Add Printer Wizard.
This behavior has also been known to occur with the Hewlett
Packard PhotoSmart printer drivers for the model 1000, 1215, 1218, and 2410 printers
and with the Xerox Docuprint M750 printer. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, download and install the latest
printer driver for your printer from the printer manufacturer's Web
site. For information about how to contact your printer manufacturer, click the appropriate article number in the following list to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 65416 Hardware and software vendor contact information, A-K
60781 Hardware and software vendor contact information, L-P
60782 Hardware and software vendor contact information, Q-Z To resolve this if you are using an HP
PhotoSmart printer and driver, it may be possible to use an HP 870CSE driver as
a substitute driver while you are printing envelopes. To install the driver
in Windows Millennium Edition (Me), follow these steps: - Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
- Double-click the Add Printer Wizard, and then click Next.
- Select Local Printer, and then click Next.
- In the left pane of the dialog box that opens, click HP.
- In the right pane, click HP DeskJet 870CSE Printer, and then click Next.
- Select the port that your printer is typically connected to
(generally this is LPT1:), and then click Next.
- When the dialog box asks if you want your windows-based
programs to use this as the default printer, click Yes, and then click Next.
- To print a test page, select NOT, and then click Finish.
To install the driver in Windows 98 or if the Windows Millennium Edition (Me) CD's
are not available, visit the following HP Web site: Follow the instructions that are listed on the Web site to download and install
the HP 870 CSE driver. Now try to print an envelope small from Picture It!
Publishing. If this works, keep this driver installed and
switch to it as needed. Most of the time you will want to have the PhotoSmart
driver in use. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
- Right-click PhotoSmart Printer.
- Select Set as
default.
- Close all the windows that are open on your desktop.
When you start the process of printing an envelope from
Picture It! Publishing and you get to the screen where you can select the
printer that you want to use, pull the list down, and then select 870CSE. This way you can just
use it when you need it.
