RRType HINFO or ISDN Are Not Added When You Use the Dnscmd.exe Tool (259887)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Dnscmd.exe tool, RRType HINFO or ISDN are not added.

For example, if you type dnscmd . /recordadd test.com @ HINFO cpu os at a command prompt, and then press ENTER, you may receive the following error message:
Command failed: DNS_ERROR_ZONE_DOES_NOT_EXIST 9601 (00002581)

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
