SYMPTOMS

If you uninstall Windows Millennium Edition (Me), contacts that you added while using Windows Me may be missing from the Windows Address Book.

CAUSE

During the upgrade to Windows Me, the Windows Address Book data file is backed up. During the uninstallation process, the backup copy of the data file is restored, overwriting any data that you may have added in Windows Me.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
