SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Picture It! 2000, you may receive the following error message:
The parameter is incorrect.
After you close the error message Picture It! 2000 quits unexpectedly.

To troubleshoot this issue, use the following methods in the order in which they are presented:

Start Picture It! 2000 With Command-Line Switches

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK

    "drive:\Program Files\Microsoft PictureIt!\Picture.exe" /nocatalog /nostartup /nointro

    where drive is the letter of the hard disk on which Picture It! 2000 is installed.

Remove TWAIN Devices and Software

If you have TWAIN devices (such as scanners or digital cameras) installed, uninstall the TWAIN software, and then disconnect the devices. To uninstall TWAIN software, consult your TWAIN device documentation.

Reinstall Picture It! 2000 After a Selective Startup

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
  3. Click Selective startup.
  4. Click to clear the following check boxes:
    • Process Config.sys file
    • Process Autoexec.bat file
    • Process Winstart.bat file
    • Process Win.ini file
    • Load startup group items

    NOTE: If a check box is unavailable, then the file associated with that check box is not present on your computer.

  5. Click OK, and then click Yes to restart the computer.
  6. Reinstall Picture It! 2000, and then restart the computer.
  7. Click Start, and then click Run.
  8. In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
  9. Click Normal startup.
  10. Restart the computer.
