Windows Media Server Incorrectly Logs Client IP Address (259800)

SYMPTOMS

The Windows Media Server incorrectly logs the IP address that is placed in the status packet sent by the client to the server. The IP address may be reported as "0.0.0.0" in the status packet.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
