The Administrator Profile Takes Longer to Load Than a Power User Profile (259787)

When you log on as an administrator, you may experience the following symptoms:
- The profile loads slowly.
- The hard disk is accessed continuously for three to five minutes.
- In Winlogon, CPU usage is high.
- The desktop loads slower than usual.
- The time that is required to open programs is longer than usual.
After three to five minutes, the computer functions return to normal. If you log on as a Power User, you do not experience the delays, the hard disk symptoms, or the CPU usage problem.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur if you have installed the Zone Alarm software. The Power User account does not exhibit this behavior because Zone Alarm does not load entirely when a Power User logs on.
When you uninstall this software, some registry entries are not removed completely; therefore, the services and logon process still take place.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, install the latest version of Zone Alarm (version 2.1.25 or later) from the following Zone Labs Web site:
