This article was previously published under Q259755

SYMPTOMS

When you open a picture in the Kodak Photo CD (.pcd) format in Microsoft Picture It! 99 or Microsoft Picture It! 2000, the picture may appear grainy or out of focus.

NOTE: If you open the same picture in Microsoft Picture It!, version 2.0, the quality of the image is good.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the later versions of the PCD filter (Pcdimp32.flt) use a lower resolution.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, copy the earlier version of the Pcdimp32.flt file to the following folder

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Grphflt

from either of the following folders

cd-rom:\Shared\Grphflt

-or-

cd-rom:\Mediamgr\Filters

where cd-rom is the letter of the CD-ROM drive that contains the Picture It! 2.0 CD-ROM or the Picture It! 99 Disc 1 CD-ROM.

The following table lists the version number of the Pcdimp32.flt file that is included in the different versions of Picture It!.
