MORE INFORMATION

How to Add a New Mailbox Store

The mailbox store is a storage device for a server's mailboxes. Exchange 2000 supports multiple mailbox stores for each server. Each mailbox store is contained in a storage group. To add a mailbox store:
  1. In Exchange System Manager select the server to which you want to add the mailbox store. To select the server, go to the following location:

    Administrative Groups/Site/Server

  2. Click the server to which you want to add the mailbox store.
  3. Right-click the storage group container to which you want to add the mailbox store, point to New, and then click Mailbox Store.
  4. On the General tab, you will need to set the following properties:
    1. In Name, type a name for the mailbox store.
    2. To change the name and location of the default public store, use Default public store.

How to Add a New Public Store

The public folder store is a storage device for a server's public folders. Exchange 2000 supports multiple public folder stores. Each public folder store is contained in a storage group.

Note: You cannot create a public folder store without first creating a public folder hierarchy in which to store it. The only other property required when adding a public folder store is the public folder name.
  1. In Exchange System Manager select the server to which you want to add the public store. To select the server, go to the following location:

    Administrative Groups/Site/Server

  2. Click the server to which you want to add the public folder store.
  3. Right-click the storage group container to which you want to add the public folder store, point to New, and then click Public Folder Store.
  4. On the General tab, set the following properties:
    1. In Name, type a name for the public folder store.
    2. The name and location of the public store hierarchy must be associated to the new public folder store. To do this, click the Associated public store tree.
