The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

This article was previously published under Q259624

SUMMARY

Exchange 2000 Server supports multiple databases (information stores), which are contained in storage groups. A storage group contains one to five information stores and a set of transaction log files. The First Storage Group is created by default.

MORE INFORMATION

To create additional storage groups:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Expand Administrative Groups, expand Site, and then click Servers.
  3. Right-click the server to which you want to add a storage group, point to New, and then click Storage Group. This will allow you to create a new storage group for the server. Use the General tab to name the storage group, set up circular logging, log file, and system file paths, and zero out deleted database pages. All of these can be changed at a later date if necessary.
