OL2000: Notes/History Field Is Not Imported from ACT! 4.0 to the Outlook Notes Field (259610)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q259610

SYMPTOMS

After you import contact data into Outlook from ACT! 4.0 by using either the .dbf or .txt file format, the Notes fields in the resulting Outlook contacts are empty.

MORE INFORMATION

You can export data from ACT! 4.0 in either the ACT! 4.0 (.dbf) or text-delimited (.txt) file formats. When you import this data into Outlook 2000, the information from the ACT! Notes/History field is not transferred into the Outlook Notes field, even though the field mapping indicates that the Notes/History field from ACT! 4.0 is mapped to the Notes field in Outlook.

NOTE: The Outlook Activities field does not have an ACT! equivalent field, so following an import the Activies field is also empty.

To see the mappings:
  1. On the File menu, click Import and Export to start the Import and Export Wizard.
  2. Click Import from another program or file, and then click Next.
  3. Click ACT!3.x,4.0 Contact Manager for Windows from the list of available file types, and then click Next.
  4. Click Browse to find the file that contains your ACT! contacts data, and then click Next.
  5. Click Map Custom Fields to view the field mappings.
