SYMPTOMS When you try to use Internet Explorer to log on to a
security-enhanced Web site, you may receive one or both of the following error
messages:
CAUSE This problem can occur if you have a damaged or invalid
entry in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\Schannel
RESOLUTIONWARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious
problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft
cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry
Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own
risk. To resolve this problem, use Registry Editor to
remove the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\Schannel
NOTE: This registry key is rebuilt when you start Internet Explorer.
