PI2000: Borders Around Objects Do Not Fit Frames (259482)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Microsoft PhotoDraw Picture (.mix) file in Microsoft Picture It! 2000, the borders around some objects may extend beyond the object frames.

NOTE: The thumbnails for these pictures are displayed as expected.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if all of the following conditions are true for the file saved in Picture It! 99:
  • The Mat feature was used on the file.

  • The file was saved as an Active Collage.

  • The file was created in Microsoft Picture It! 99 and saved in the .mix file format.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method.

In Picture It! 2000

Crop the mats that are too wide:
  1. Click to select the object that you want to crop.
  2. On the Workbench tab, click Size & Position, and then click Crop.
  3. Position the cropping shape using the sizing handles to display the mat the way that you want, and then click Done.

In Picture It! 99

To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:
  • Save the image in Picture It! 99 as a Finished Collage:
    1. On the File menu, click Save As.
    2. Click Options.
    3. Click Finished Collage, and then click Done.
    4. Type the name of the picture, and then click Save.
  • Place a rectangle object behind the image instead of a mat object.
    1. On the Workbench tab, click Pictures & Cutouts, and then click Add a Colored Shape.
    2. Click the fill and gradient that you want, and then click Done.
    3. Use the Stack to position the rectangle underneath your picture.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Picture It! 2000.
