SYMPTOMS
When you use Puma Technology Softsync Plus to synchronize Outlook 2000 with a Neopoint cellular telephone, you receive the following illegal operation error message:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MAPISP32.EXE caused an "Access Violation" fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 0177:BFF7B997
CAUSE
You receive this error message if the information for the Ilxolk.fil file is not registered with the default application that is set to Microsoft Outlook.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use the following steps to edit the registry: WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve
problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own
risk. - Quit Outlook.
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Locate and click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem\MSMapiApps
- Verify that you see the Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) program files listed in the Name column.
- Double-click the Ilxolk.fil file to open the string value.
- In the Value Data box, type Microsoft Outlook.
- Quit Registry Editor, and then open Outlook.
