You receive the "cannot display the End User License Agreement" error message when you start Money for the first time (259291)

RESOLUTION

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

Remove and reinstall Money

Back up the registry

Before you change the registry, export the keys in the registry that you plan to change, or back up the whole registry. If an issue occurs, follow the steps in the "How to backup, edit and restore the registry" article that is referenced later to restore the registry to its previous state.

Microsoft Money 2004 and later versions

To resolve this issue in Money 2004 and later versions, change the Windows Registry. To change the registry, we recommend that you follow the steps that are listed in the Microsoft documentation only. If you can, use the Windows user interface instead of directly editing the registry. To add a registry key, click Start, click Run, type Regedit, and then click OK.

1. On the Help menu, click Help Topics.
2. On the Contents tab, double-click Registry Editor.
3. Double-click How To.
4. Double-click Change Keys and Values, and then click the topic that you want.

Create the following keys for your version of Money.

Microsoft Money 2006

Follow these steps, and then quit Registry Editor:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:

   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Works Suite\2006\Mny15

3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type EULA, and then press ENTER.
5. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
6. Type 1, and then click OK.
7. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
8. Type RegDisplay, and then press ENTER.
9. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
10. Type 1, and then click OK.

Microsoft Money 2005

Follow these steps, and then quit Registry Editor:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:

   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Works Suite\2005\Mny14

3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type EULA, and then press ENTER.
5. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
6. Type 1, and then click OK.
7. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
8. Type RegDisplay, and then press ENTER.
9. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
10. Type 1, and then click OK.

Microsoft Money 2004

Follow these steps, and then quit Registry Editor:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:

   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Works Suite\2004\Mny12

3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type EULA, and then press ENTER.
5. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
6. Type 1, and then click OK.
7. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
8. Type RegDisplay, and then press ENTER.
9. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
10. Type 1, and then click OK.

Microsoft Money 2003, Money 2002, and Money 2000

To resolve this issue, read the End User License Agreement, and then download and install the Eulafix.exe file. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Quit Money if it is running.
2. Click Start, click Run, type the following text in the Open box, and then click OK:

   "drive :\program files\common files\microsoftMicrosoft shared\works shared"

   Note You must include the quotation marks when you type this text. In this example, drive is the letter of the hard disk where Money is installed.
3. Double-click the Money version Eula.txt file--for example, Money 2002EulaMny11Eula.txt. Then, read the End User License Agreement (EULA). If you agree to the terms in the EULA, go to the next step.
4. On the File menu, click Close.
5. Obtain and install the Eulafix.exe file. Note The Eulafix.exe file modifies the Windows Registry. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:
   Download the http://download.microsoft.com/download/money2000bs/Update/1.0/WIN98/EN-US/Eulafix.exe package now. Release Date: Apr-10-2000
