Works 2000 Error Message: Works Cannot Launch the OLE Object Server. (259220)

SYMPTOMS

If you click to select a status item, such as Urgent, Reply ASAP, or Please Comment on a Fax Cover Sheet template that you start from the Microsoft Works 2000 Task Launcher, you receive the following error message:
Works cannot launch the OLE object server. A linked file may not exist, the server may not be installed or there maybe a problem with the server installation.
When you click OK, you return to the document. The status item is not selected.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the status item boxes belong to a grouped object.

You cannot ungroup a grouped object in Works 2000 to gain access to an individual object that is contained in a group object.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, print the document, and then manually select the status item that you want with a pen or pencil.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Works 2000.
