Some Toshiba Utilities May Not Work Correctly After Suspending Computer (259169)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional

This article was previously published under Q259169

SYMPTOMS

After you resume a Toshiba laptop computer that is in Standby or Hibernate mode, some Toshiba utilities may not work correctly.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because some bits in the DMA register are not correctly restored when the computer returns from Hibernate or Standby mode. These bits are used by the Toshiba utilities to determine if the floppy disk drive is being accessed or if DMA is in use. If these bits are not maintained, the utilities may not work correctly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
