SideWinder: Cannot Test Force Feedback Effects in Control Panel (259105)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to test the force feedback effects for one of the Microsoft SideWinder game controllers listed at the beginning of this article, you may be unable to do so.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the SideWinder game controller is connected to a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer.

RESOLUTION

To test the force feedback feature of the SideWinder game controller, use the game controller in a force feedback enabled game.

MORE INFORMATION

Under versions of Microsoft Windows prior to Windows 2000, you can test the force feedback effects for a game controller on the Test Forces tab in the Game Controllers tool in Control Panel.

NOTE: Windows 2000 does provide base level support for SideWinder game controllers, including the Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Pro and Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Wheel.
