SYMPTOMS

When you install Symantec WinFax PRO 10.0 in Windows 2000 Professional, it installs correctly and seems to function properly until you restart the computer. When you restart the computer, the WinFax PRO 10.0 drivers may be uninstalled.

RESOLUTION

To verify whether the drivers were uninstalled after restarting the computer, check the System log in Event Viewer. If the drivers were uninstalled, you see a series of warnings with event IDs 8, 4, and 3. These event IDs refer to the purging, pending deletion, and deletion of a printer or fax. Check each of the event IDs to make sure that it refers to the WinFax printer. If WinFax PRO was removed, visit the following Symantec Web site.
