Registry Requirements for Internet Explorer Setup (258707)

SYMPTOMS

If you uninstall Internet Explorer and then attempt to reinstall it, you may receive the following error message:
You do not have enough registry space for Setup to continue.

CAUSE

There is insufficient registry space available for Internet Explorer Setup.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
  2. On the Performance tab, click Change.
  3. Increase the Maximum Size setting to a value at least four megabytes (MB) larger than the current value.
  4. Click OK, and then restart your computer.
  5. Run Setup again.

MORE INFORMATION

If the current registry size is within four MB of the maximum size, you may receive this error message. Although Internet Explorer uses only two MB of registry space, Internet Explorer cannot be installed with less than four MB of registry space available.
