SYMPTOMS
If you are running Windows 98 Second Edition on an IBM ThinkPad 600x computer with Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) features enabled and you have configured the computer to shut down when you press the power button on the computer, you may receive the following error message:
This program has performed and illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persist, contact the program vendor.
If you then click Details, you may receive the following error message:
Explorer caused an invalid page fault in

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, upgrade your version of Microsoft Internet Explorer to version 5.01 (build 5.00.2919.6307) or later. To obtain the latest version of Internet Explorer, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
