- Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services 7.0
This article was previously published under Q257921 SYMPTOMS
The Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services may fail to start after you rename the Microsoft Windows NT computer name. The following error message appears in the Windows Event Viewer:
The license has expired.
With Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services Service Pack 2 (SP2), this is the
error message that appears:
The current configuration no longer matches the licensed configuration. This may be caused by the expiration of an evaluation license or a change in the computer configuration such as a different computer name or network card. For configuration changes, rerun Setup.
WORKAROUND
Here are two ways to work around this problem:
- Rerun the SQL Server OLAP Services setup from the original installation CD ROM, and then reinstall SQL Server OLAP Services service pack 2.
-or-
- Change the Windows NT computer name back to the original computer name that the computer had when you first installed Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services.
MORE INFORMATION
OLAP Services internally uses the Windows NT computer name for licensing information. If you rerun the SQL Server OLAP Services setup, the reinstall
uses the latest Windows NT computer name. After you rerun the SQL Server OLAP Services setup from the original CD ROM, you must also reinstall any service pack that was in use.
