The Favorites hot key opens two "File Download" dialog boxes (257211)

SYMPTOMS

When you press the Favorites hot key on one of the Microsoft keyboards listed in the "Applies To" section, two File Download dialog boxes may appear on the screen when Microsoft Internet Explorer starts.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 is installed on your computer, but it is not running when you press the Favorites Hot Key.
  • The keyboard is connected to a Microsoft Windows 95-based computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer.

To work around this problem, press the Web/Home Hot Key to start Internet Explorer, and then press the Favorites Hot Key to view the Favorites menu.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
