Internet Information Services (IIS) may generate an Access Violation error message in the Inetinfo.exe process if certain characters are present in a certain position of the HTTP-request header. The Inetinfo.exe process is automatically restarted if an Access Violation error message occurs in it.

STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 1.
