39-Character Host Name Address Limitation in Compass (255811)

When you are using Zoomit Compass or Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS) Compass 2.1, there is a limitation on the length of the host name that you can configure when you connect to MMS. Compass allows a maximum of 39 characters in the Host Name Address box in the Configure Servers window. You cannot enter more than 39 characters.
CAUSE
The Host Name Address box is limited to 39 characters.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, type the IP address of the server to which you want to connect.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
