Acer TravelMate 513T Hangs During Upgrade to Windows Me (255663)

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade your Acer TravelMate 513T laptop computer from Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition to Windows Millennium Edition (Me), the computer may stop responding (hang) when there is 13 minutes remaining in the upgrade process (this is when Plug and Play detection takes place).

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the computer's BIOS is dated before 12/25/99.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain the latest BIOS update from Acer, and then run Windows Me Setup again.
