When you use Site Server Search to crawl Exchange Server public folders, the following error message may appear in the Gatherer Logs ASP page Message and Error Code column:
URL is excluded because the URL protocol is not recognized or restricted
(Error Code:0x800411A5)
The catalog is not created.
CAUSE
If during the setup of Site Server 3.0, the Exchange Server integration is not installed for some reason, the following error message appears:
Exchange indexing setup was unsuccessful. Please refer to the online documentation for more information
This error message means that the Exchange Server public folders cannot be crawled.
This error message can occur if you try to install Exchange Server on the same computer as Site Server, which is not recommended. The main reason that this problem occurs is because the Exchci.dll file is not registered or installed correctly.
RESOLUTION- From Control Panel Services, stop the Site Server Gatherer service.
- Register the Exchci.dll file using the following command line:
regsvr32 <your system path>\exchci.dll
Note: You should provide the full path to the Exchci.dll file. - Start the Gatherer service.
- From the MMC, initiate the crawling process again.
