SYMPTOMS
When you drop the local United States Map shape on the
drawing page, you receive the following error message:
C++ Run-time Error; run-time library; run-time error in \visio\visio32.exe
abnormal execution
RESOLUTION
To find out which version you have, follow these steps.
NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the
following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your
product documentation to complete these steps.
- Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files and Folders.
- Type comctl32.dll in the Named box, and then click Find Now.
- Locate the comctl32.dll file that is in the Windows\System
folder.
- Right-click the comctl32.dll file, and then click Properties.
- Click the Version tab to find the version of your file.
If you have a version of Comctl32.dll earlier than to 4.70, you
can update this file by installing VMAPS10A.Exe.

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most
current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file
was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to
prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.
An installation of VMAPS10A.Exe will update an earlier
version of the Comctl32.dll file to version 4.70.
You can also
update the Comctl32.dll file by installing Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.01 or
later. To install the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer, visit the
