Visio5: The First Page of the Organization Chart 98 Converter Wizard Is Blank (254554)

When you run the Organization Chart 98 Converter Wizard, included with the Visio 5.0c Business Bonus Pack, the first page of the wizard appears blank except for the Next and Cancel buttons. If you click Next, you receive an error because, although the screen does not show a place for you to enter the name of the file that you want to convert, the wizard cannot continue without it. You can click Cancel to exit the wizard.
This problem occurs if both of the following conditions are true:
- You do not have Microsoft Office or Microsoft Internet Explorer installed on your computer.
- You are using the original release of Windows 95 with Comctl32.dll
file version 4.00.950.
To find out the version of the Comctl32.dll file, in the Windows Explorer, right-click the file (located in the Windows\System folder), and then click Properties. In the Properties dialog box, click the Version tab.
RESOLUTION
You can solve this problem by updating the Comctl32.dll file. To update the file, run the Microsoft Com32upd.exe patch. You can find Com32upd.exe in the following locations:
- The Patchers folder on the Visio 5.0c CD.
- The Microsoft Download Center at the following Microsoft Web address:
NOTE: Installing Microsoft Office or Internet Explorer also solves this problem.
