Visio2000: Visio 2000 Professional Edition and Visio 2000 Enterprise Edition Ship with and Are Certified for Use with MDAC 2.1, Service Pack 2 (254513)

Microsoft Visio 2000 Professional Edition and Microsoft Visio 2000 Enterprise Edition both ship with Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.1 and Service Pack 2 (SP2).

MDAC 2.5 will be available after Visio 2000 Professional Edition and Visio 2000 Enterprise Edition are available for purchase. When using MDAC 2.5 with these editions, performance results may vary.

In addition to other fixes, MDAC 2.1, SP2 includes fixes for:

Active Server Pages (ASP)
Remote Data Service (RDS)
Microsoft Jet
JOIN statements in Microsoft SQL Server 7.0

Visio 2000 Professional Edition and Visio 2000 Enterprise Edition leverage these fixes in the Visio Network Equipment (VNE) solution.

Both Visio editions were tested to operate with MDAC 2.1, SP2.

The specific changes in the final release of MDAC 2.5 are unknown at this time (December 1999). This article will be updated when more information becomes available.

MDAC 2.1 SP2 is technically known as MDAC 2.1.2.4202.3. The original release of MDAC 2.1 shipped with SQL Server 7.0. A small, incremented version shipped with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0.
