SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Windows Media Player to play a video file or video stream, a one inch black line may be visible at the bottom of the Video Display window.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you have enabled the Captions feature in Windows Media Player.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, disable the Captions feature:
  1. Start Windows Media Player.
  2. On the View menu, click the Captions command to remove the check mark.
  3. Quit Windows Media Player.
