PRB: Unable to Retrieve Folder Information from the Server (254315)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to create a new Web project using Visual InterDev 6.0, it fails and the following error message appears:
Unable to retrieve folder information from the server. An HTTP error occurred. The server could not complete your request. Contact your Internet service provider or Web server administrator to make sure that the Web application exist on that server.

RESOLUTION

Follow these steps to resolve this problem:
  1. Open the Internet Information Server Manager.
  2. Right-click Default Web Site.
  3. Click Properties.
  4. Click the Home Directory tab.
  5. Clear the check box for FrontPage Web.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Right-click Default Web Site.
  8. Click Properties.
  9. Click the Home Directory tab.
  10. Select FrontPage Web.
  11. Click the OK.
