This article describes how to create a grade book template using Microsoft Works Spreadsheet.

NOTE: Grade book templates are included in Microsoft Works 4.x, but are not included in Works 2000 Spreadsheet or later.

To create a grade book template in Works Spreadsheet, use the following methods in the order in which they are presented.

Create a Grade Book Design in Works Spreadsheet

To create a grade book design in Works Spreadsheet:
  1. Start Works Task Launcher.
  2. Click the Programs tab, click Works Spreadsheet, and then click Start a blank Spreadsheet.
  3. In the first row, type the headers or titles of the columns, such as "Student Name," "Date," and "Grade."
  4. Type the information for each student in each row.

Calculate the Grade Averages

To calculate the grade averages:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Easy Calc.
  2. Under Common calculations, click Average.
  3. Click and drag to select the range of cells in the spreadsheet that contain the grades that you want to average, and then click Next.

    NOTE: You may need to move the Easy Calc dialog box away from the range of cells that you want to select.
  4. Click the cell in which you want the result to be calculated.
  5. Click Finish.

Save the Grade Book Spreadsheet As a Template

To save the grade book spreadsheet as a template:
  1. Click File, and then click Save As.
  2. Click Template.
  3. In the Type a name for the template below box, type a name for the template, and then click OK.
The template is displayed in the list of spreadsheet templates the next time you start Works Task Launcher.
