XFOR: Entering Multiple IP Address Ranges in Instant Messaging Firewall Topology Module (252476)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q252476 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to specify IP address ranges within the Exchange 2000 Instant Messaging Firewall Topology Module, the interface allows you, the administrator, to define multiple instances of the same IP address range.
CAUSE
Multiple IP address ranges are allowed because there may be other IP address ranges defined which may overlap one another. Therefore, the IP address range that you enter is not parsed for duplicates to allow for such a situation.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, you can either remove redundant IP ranges or re-enter the IP range so that the entire range takes all of the existing multiple entries into account.
