XFOR: GIF Images Are Not Preserved in Lotus Notes Signature (252101)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q252101 SYMPTOMS
When using a Lotus Notes R5 client, you have an option to create a signature as plain text, a text file, an HTML file, or an image (.bmp or .gif).
If you include a .gif image in the signature, it may not be preserved when the message is sent to a Microsoft Exchange 2000 user through the Microsoft Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because Exchange 2000 contains no mechanism to preserve .gif images in a user's signature. All other options are received by Exchange 2000 with no problem.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, convert the .gif image to a .bmp image.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
