XADM: Server Does Not Appear in the File Tree for Backup if the Information Store Service Is Stopped (251552)

SYMPTOMS

When attempting to back up a remote Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server computer, the server (or servers) do not appear in the backup file tree. The local Exchange 2000 Server computer does not currently have the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service running.

RESOLUTION

The local Exchange 2000 Server computer must have an actively running information store to be able to back up a remote Exchange 2000 Server computer.
